Over 70 Friends participated in the 2024 Piedmont Friends Retreat and Annual Sessions.

  • On Saturday, at Guilford College, Friends heard an inspired and provoking message from Amelia Kegan of Friends Committee on National Legislation, calling on Friends to lift up those with marginalized voices and to prepare for the tumultuous times leading up to and following the November election.
  • Hearty lunches from New Jerusalem Market, Greensboro, were much enjoyed in the beautiful spring weather. After which, James Shields led many on a walk into the Guilford Woods. Others sat together with handiworks and conversation, while others took time to explore the organizational tables and book displays.
  • The afternoon annual sessions got started with James Shields leading Friends in a few freedom songs, acknowledging the upcoming 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act.
  • The Annual Session meeting for worship with attention to business was a spirit-filled gathering attending to the business of Piedmont Friends-Yearly Meeting & Fellowship. The documents below outline the work brought before the meeting.
  • Mark Wutka, Friendship Friends, shared a collection of words from George Fox, in celebration of the 400th anniversary of Fox’s birth.
  • The rich weekend of fellowship and connection concluded Sunday morning with a virtual meeting for worship.
